Therapy Style

My therapeutic style starts with respect, both for the reasons you’re in my office and your commitment to growth. I know your time is precious, and I strive to provide value in every session.

I practice a relational style. Robust clinical research shows that the relationship shared between therapist and client is the number one factor in positive outcomes, evident to me over thousands of sessions. Yes, we talk, and healing occurs through corrective, therapeutic experiences. This includes cultivating a healthy relationship to yourself.

With a great deal of professional and lived experience, I often relate to what my clients are going through. I understand the complexities of mental health and the winding roads of recovery. I know what it’s like to struggle, to grieve, to invest in growth, to contemplate the big questions, to begin again.

We collaborate. During our time together, I am empathic and transparent, kind and direct. I draw from mindfulness-based methods, and I provide education and training when appropriate. I let you know what I’m thinking, and I accurately reflect the compassionate response you deserve.

I believe in you, even before I know you. I whole-heartedly trust the innate intelligence we all share. How we lose connection to that essential quality, and forget our true nature, is my ultimate concern. Growth is automatic once obstacles are removed. Remembering this basic goodness is why I’m here, and I’m here for you.
